...how to get to ...
...Peniscola, Los Baladres and Tierra d'Irta apartments
Whether you are flying to Reus, Barcelona or Valencia airports or driving all the way - you will eventually arrrive at Peniscola, having travelled most or part of the journey along the AP7. This motorway stretches the full length of the Spanish coastline and is a joy to drive on.
TOLLS: there are tolls at various points along the route. These you pay for either with cash, or you can simply use a credit card in the machine At the first set of tolls that you encounter, you will need to take a ticket from the machine (driver's side if using a Spanish hire car, passenger's side if driving your own UK vehicle). The barrier will then lift up allowing you to continue along the motorway. At the next set of tolls - if you want to pay by card, look for the bright yellow card symbol above the toll gates and drive slowly up to the barrier. On the left will be a machine with three sections: first, feed the ticket (follow the arrow direction on the ticket) into the machine, then put your card into the machine, then, when the transaction has been confirmed, you will have the option of pressing the button to receive a receipt. (Each of these 3 stages are indicated on the machine by little flashing yellow lights!) - REMEMBER TO REMOVE THE CARD BEFORE DRIVING OFF.
At Junction 43 on the AP7, drive through the toll gates and follow signs for Peniscola N340. Drive over the motorway bridge, past a garden centre (PenisVerde) on your left. After 2 Km turn right and follow signs for Peniscola CV141. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit, signposted Peniscola CV141. Continue on this road for approximately 5 Km. Go straight on at the first large roundabout, continue towards Peniscola and at the second roundabout (Hotel Puerta Mar on your right) take the second exit, ie straight on, down into the town and towards the sea. At the end of the road you will reach a large roundabout by the beach, this is Plaza de la Constitucion. Turn right and follow the coastal road up the hill (the sea should be on your left!). Continue along this pretty but very winding road, beside the sea, passing Residencia Edison on your left, and keep going until you reach the development of Font Nova on your right.
For Los Baladres apartments: turn right into the urbanisation, passing tennis courts on your right and a bar/restaurant on your left. Take the first left and continue on this tree lined road, with gardens and a pool on your right, until you reach a turning on your right (Avenida Benicarlo), turn right up the hill and the numbered parking spaces are on your left. This is Los Baladres urbanisation. Someone will meet you and show you to your apartment.
For Tierra de Irta apartments: continue on the coast road, past the Font Nova entrance, and around the corner turn right, up the hill on Avenida Mediterraneo. Climb the hill until you are almost at the end of properties. Someone will be there to meet you and show you to your apartment.
